CERTIFICATE OF MERIT

The MTAC Certificate of Merit® program is a wonderful opportunity for dedicated piano students to develop their musical skills and grow as well-rounded musicians. Students are evaluated in areas such as performance, technique, ear training, sight reading, and music theory, with each student participating at a level appropriate to their individual ability and experience.

While participation is not required, students who demonstrate responsibility, strong work habits, and a desire for musical growth are encouraged to participate. The program helps students build discipline, confidence, goal-setting skills, and musical proficiency, and it can also be a valuable addition to future college applications and resumes.

Although Certificate of Merit is an extremely rewarding experience, it does require additional commitment and consistent preparation throughout the year. Students participating in the program will follow a structured completion schedule to ensure that all materials are learned thoroughly and in a timely manner. Because of the amount of preparation involved, procrastination is strongly discouraged.
